    Description

    • Must be willing to travel to mine sites in and around the Sudbury area up to and including Timmins. A company field truck will be provided.
    Licensed HDEMs only - no apprentices will be considered at this time. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and have your Hardrock common core underground mine MTCU modules.
    Primary Function

    Inspect, maintain, adjust, modify, repair and test all mine mobile equipment and to dismantle and assemble same as required.

    Tools, Equipment and Materials
    Trade related hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, pneumatic tools.

    Hydraulic pressure gauges, computerized diagnostic equipment, new meters, electrical multi meters, electric and pneumatic hand power tools, drill presses, bench grinders, hydraulic presses and rams, oxy-acetylene cutting torches, overhead cranes and service vehicles.

    Computerized maintenance management system, micrometers, calipers, PLC devices, etc.
    Diesel and electric powered L.H.D.

    equipment, Diesel/Electric drill jumbos, haulage trucks, utility vehicles, scalers, rockbreakers, oxygen, acetylene, cleaning solvents, lubricants, ethylene glycol, wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, manuals etc.

    Essential Duties

    • Participates in appropriate training and complies within the scope of their responsibilities within theSustainable Development Management System, which includes the Environmental ManagementSystem.
    • Communicates with the Mechanical Coordinator on issues pertaining to materials/parts availability,maintenance systems, modifications to equipment and changes in standard practices. Adviseplanners and arranges to have material and parts shipped to surface for rebuilding or disposal.
    • Receive oral and/or written instructions from the supervisor including schematics, sketches, wiringdiagrams and priority requirements.
    • Follows established, safe procedures, for instance: Five Point Safety system and P.P.E. in adjusting,repairing, servicing and assembling/disassembling of mechanical equipment.
    • In shop areas maintain housekeeping at standard, to provide a safe working environment.
    • Troubleshoot equipment using testers and instruments and referring to repair manuals, schematicsor diagrams as necessary.
    • Performs preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, lubricating, repairing or replacing faultycomponents on mechanical equipment.
    • Tests repaired equipment or component for correct operating performance.
    • Reports to supervision any development which, if left unchecked, could result in a prematurebreakdown or if the result could lead to an unsafe condition, take immediate appropriate action.
    • Communicates orally and/or in writing, requirements to the maintenance planner for work orders andparts and material requirements and keeps his supervisor advised of these requirements.
    • Report to supervision and in various log books and work orders, the equipment worked on, the partsused or repaired, and the type of work performed.
    • Utilizes the computerized Maintenance Management System to; access equipment and warehouseinformation, to generate requests for materials required, and to initiate work orders for immediate an"to be planned' work.
    • Performs other related duties as requested.

    Requirements for the Job:

    • Must be a licensed Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic.
