JOB OVERVIEW


Reporting to the Director, Independent Fundraising & Sports Alliances, the Manager, New Business Development & Sports Alliances is responsible for identifying, prospecting, soliciting, and negotiating revenue driving third-party fundraising partnership opportunities while also maintaining a portfolio of accounts.

The Manager will also be responsible for day-to-day management of current and newly emerging sports alliance programs to raise funds and engage new supporters across Canada.


This role can be based anywhere in Canada.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:


  • Work closely with the Director, Independent Fundraising & Sports Alliances on development of strategic partnership plans, budgets, and activation requirements to grow revenue.
  • Independently prospects, cultivates, solicits, and secures, potential new partners and fundraisers to meet direct revenue goals.
  • Conducts regular cold calls to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities. Assesses and identifies key decision makers and influences within the client organization.
  • Helps support strategic sports alliances partnership programs and develops new strategic partnership programs.
  • Project management of Sports Alliances account activations including but not limited to: coordination of national/global sports promotions, collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, weekly status updates, stewardship communications and correspondence to keep projects moving forward in a timely manner.
  • Develop and track success of activation plans from concept to completion to ensure all deliverables are executed in a timely manner.
  • Draft independent fundraising and sports alliance partnership proposals to secure new fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure all programs are executed successfully.
  • Provide exceptional service to all partnership accounts to maintain and strength the relationship.
  • Prepares financial and pipeline commentaries, processes invoices and ensures our CRM system is updated on a regular basis.
  • Continually monitor programs and evaluate industry trends to identify new and innovative opportunities.
  • Ensures the Canadian Cancer Societies policies and corporate and community development standards are adhered to.
  • Actively contribute to our culture of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion by encouraging dialogue that respectfully considers a wide variety of ideas, opinions, and suggestions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary diploma/degree required, in a related field (preferably marketing or business development) with related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Previous experience in the nonprofit space is an asset.
  • Excellent planning, marketing and business development skills including strong negotiation abilities.
  • Exceptional history in developing, managing, and implementing successful sports activation programs.
  • Results oriented, with a proven record achieving revenue/sales targets.
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively.
  • Ability to identify and leverage integrated business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience in building successful customer relations.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management and analytical skills with the ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Salesforce
  • Ability to set priorities, demonstrate a positive attitude, troubleshoot and problem solve independently using sound judgement.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
