Current Opportunity


It's difficult to describe an average day for our counselors, as each caller presents with a unique set of challenges, and it would be from your clinical conversation that would help each person navigate a way forward.

The majority of the day is spent, providing in-the-moment support, assessing for suitability of short-term counselling, engaging in crisis management, and always working collaboratively with the caller on what will be the best treatment plan going forward.

As part of WPO's commitment to a holistic approach to care, you will regularly connect clients to external resources or within WPO.

You will definitely never be bored working in WPO's fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities include:


  • Providing Single Session Therapy
  • Assessing clients for suitability for shortterm counseling
  • Collaboratively developing clear and concise treatment plans for clients
  • Providing clear clinical documentation in our case management system
  • Assessing and managing high risk calls and working closely with individuals at risk.

Requirements:


To be successful in this role, you need to possess a genuine curiosity in people from all ages, cultures, and backgrounds with the clinical skills to engage and listen while providing clinical interventions such as CBT, solution-focused and Motivational Interviewing techniques.

Given the range of populations we support, you need to be comfortable working with individuals presenting with high-risk behavior, complex mental health issues and situation of crisis.

We provide support 24/7 and thus, our team works in the morning, afternoon, evening and overnight, however, shifts are always consistent.


Professional qualifications required as follows:

  • Master's degree Social Worker or Counselling
    is required.
  • Experience in crisis support, CBT, solutionfocused therapy and/or mindfulnessbased techniques are an asset.
  • Training in mindfulness or solutionfocused counselling is an asset.
  • Must have availability to work an evening and weekend shift.
  • Licensure or clinical certification not a requirement however, WPO is very supportive of helping employees obtain licensure/certification.
  • Applicant must live in the province of Ontario.
