***Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Systems, the Analyst is a "safety-responsible" position in charge of supporting the operation and maintenance of TNPI's SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), ICS (Industrial Controls Systems), and other computer systems used by Operations (Product Movement and Field Services). The SCADA analyst will use their expert-level computer programming skills and industry experience and knowledge to perform tasks such as developing and maintaining SCADA displays, administering, and maintaining the SCADA database, troubleshooting, and supporting leak detection systems, and participating in new system initiatives at the project level to meet the company's business objectives and operate safely in accordance with all pipeline regulations.

In addition, the role will be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for the SCADA system's operation.

To initiate MOC processes, system assessments, and reviews, the position will collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Process Engineering, Control Center, Field Services, Safety, and others.


OEMS


This position is accountable for ensuring that all aspects of work comply with safe work practices, all applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements and TNPI's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS).

This position performs their job effectively safely, securely, and in a manner protective of the environment, and complies with TNPI Safety and Environmental Absolutes


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SCADA System

  • Assisting and managing requests related to daily operations and projects as part of a team
  • Assisting or leading in the troubleshooting of system failures, as well as recommending or implementing solutions
  • All pipeline SCADA networking communication infrastructure must be administered, maintained, and supported
  • Factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning activities affecting the SCADA system are all performed
  • Contributing to efforts to improve and standardize SCADA work processes and regulatory requirements
  • Working with other departments to support and integrate the SCADA system with other business needs such as accounting, scheduling, measurement, and so on
  • Working with Alarm Management or a Product Movement Specialist to analyze alarms and leak detection behavior and make any necessary changes

Projects

  • Managing work assignments for system changes using the Management of Change (MOC) process
  • System specifications, procedures, and standards are reviewed, maintained, and improved
  • Assisting with all ICS lifecycle upgrade or migration projects.
  • Interfacing with internal departments to conduct risk assessments, understand business requirements, and influence SCADA system functional requirements

Continuous Improvement

  • Conducts quality incident investigations, recommends corrective actions, and ensures that corrective actions are implemented on time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A relevant degree/diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline is required. University degree or higher preferred.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered Professional Engineer preferred.


TECHNICAL SKILLS & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE

  • Programming languages such as C#, VB, and SQL are required
  • Pipeline operation experience, including handson SCADA system support, is required
  • Preferred extensive knowledge of SCADA and liquids
