Position Summary:


The Team Leader, Human Resources will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organization's payroll procedures adhere to regulatory requirements and collective agreements, guaranteeing accuracy and compliance.

They will lead and support the end-to-end design and configuration of Workday, leveraging industry leading practices to optimize HR processes effectively.

They will identify and address payroll administration risks, ensuring adherence to legal requirements, tax regulations, and industry standards, while implementing best practices to streamline integration with Workday.


Additionally, the Team Leader, Human Resources will stay abreast of HR trends and issues, proactively supporting the development and execution of relevant solutions.

They will evaluate and recommend enhancements, document procedures and internal controls, and provide training and coaching to enhance process efficiencies.

Moreover, the Team Leader, Human Resources will collaborate with HR Business Partners and HR leadership to establish key performance metrics and service level targets to drive strategy, efficiency, and positive relationships.

They will navigate a fast-paced environment with significant change, lead process improvement initiatives within the HR department, maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations, and stay updated on trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources and talent management.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure payroll procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements, tax requirements and the applicable collective agreement.
  • Support full cycle Payroll, Benefits and Pension for all levels of the organization.

Support activities include:

processing payroll and related reporting, as well as benefits administration activities.- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to payroll administration processes, and document payroll processes and identify efficiencies.- Ensure sufficient and current documentation is in place to account for and explain critical payroll tasks, systems, and business continuity.- Document procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy & integrity of payroll.

Complete all audits and associated outcomes.- Manage the Benefits program ensuring compliance with related legislation and provide guidance, recommendations to management.- Lead or support the end-to-end design and configuration of the Workday HCM tool.- Understand, and analyze Workday business requirements, propose recommendations based on industry's Leading Practices.- Understand the trends and issues in HR Technology and proactively support the development and execution of solutions that are relevant.- Train and coach, a team of professionals.- Establishes key performance metrics and service level targets with that will drive efficiency, and effective service delivery.- Work collaboratively with HRBP's to establish process standards that drive efficiency, clear accountability, and service quality.- Partner with the HR leadership team on planning and delivering HR solutions to the business.- Navigate in a fast-paced environment with significant change; leveraging effective HR processes which will enable the organization to innovate and grow.- Lead process improvement initiatives within the HR department.- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.- Provide guidance, coaching, and balanced feedback on a regular basis.- Create and facilitate employee performance reviews.- Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Management, Labour Relations or a related discipline. 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Proven experience to inspire, develop and guide a team in a leadership role. knowledge of payroll regulations, collective agreements, and tax regulations.
  • Proven experience with Workday HCM implementation and configuration an asset.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems)
  • Strong analytical skills to understand and analyze business requirements, propose recommendations, and identify efficiencies.
  • Experience in fullcycle payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of HR trends and issues, with the ability to proactively support the development and execution of relevant solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train, coach, and provide balanced feedback to team members.
  • Strong organizational skills to document procedures and internal controls.
  • Ability to establish key performance metrics and service level targets, driving strategy, efficiency, and positive relationships.
  • Familiarity with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and the ability to maintain compliance and recommend best practices.
