Position Description:

The Building Operator will provide a safe and comfortable environment for all patients, visitors and staff within the hospital.


Shift:
Working Monday to Friday, Weekends and Statutory Holidays; 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.


Although this posting indicates an initial area of assignment and shift, the Hospital reserves the right to assign to other areas of assignment and shifts as deemed necessary.


Here's What You Get To Do

  • Monitor, control, inspect, maintain and repair all mechanical/electrical systems
  • Provide HVAC, water, sewage, pneumatic tube system and fire protection systems
  • Ensure the efficient, reliable and safe operation of all building systems and equipment
  • Perform operations and maintenance using your own mechanical/electrical knowledge and judgment to take the required corrective action

Here's What You'll Need

  • Grade 12 education
  • 4th class stationary engineering certificate or a community college diploma in building environmental systems
  • Minimum of five years related experience
  • Demonstrated general mechanical skills
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and to use instruments such as volt meters, multimeters, etc.
  • Sufficient knowledge in order to troubleshoot, identify and neutralize any building systems emergency
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solvingabilities and flexibility
  • Ability to work in a team setting and have strong customer service commitment
  • Demonstrated fluency, both verbal and written in English
  • Ability to work in a fast paced physically demanding environment
  • Capability of wearing all required safety equipment

Employment Type
Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
