Job Purpose
Fitters are responsible for assembly, fitting, installation, and fabrication of metal components for various structures and products.


Responsibilities

  • Display a commitment to Waiward's incidentfree vision, values, and culture.
  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary to lay out work.
  • Assemble and fit metal section and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, or other methods.
  • Lay out reference points and patterns according to component specifications.
  • Grind, stamp, cut and drill material.
  • Conduct housekeeping and general cleanup.
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and ask questions.
  • Complete tasks with mínimal errors, rejections and NCR's.
  • Ensure that all nonconformances are reported and that the shop, where applicable, maintains the integrity of quality standards.
  • Follows and documents established procedures.
  • Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtains medical attention as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered apprentice, an Albertacertified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.
  • Basic Rigging Course an asset
  • FLHA Training an asset
  • Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset
  • WHMIS

Working Conditions
The incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise.


Physical Requirements


The incumbent is required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.


Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Pay:
$20.76-$36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
