Support Staff Full-time Appendix D Contract Replacement Position (February June 2024)


Reporting to the Academic Integrity Manager, the Academic Integrity Associate will provide support to the Manager through the implementation of the academic integrity policy, procedure, best practices, and educational support at Conestoga.

The incumbent is responsible for education, support, and consultation with students, employees, and faculty with the goal of increasing knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of academic integrity in support of the College's commitment to academic excellence.


Responsibilities:


Facilitation, Policy & Procedural Support

  • Act as a resource to Conestoga faculty, employees, and students regarding policy and procedure both proactively and reactively
  • Provide guidance, answer questions, and explain the Academic Integrity policy, procedure, and College best practices to Conestoga faculty, students, and employees, particularly through the academic integrity incident reporting and education process
  • Maintain knowledge of all policies and procedures relating to Academic Integrity
  • Provide oneonone or small group consultations regarding potential breaches, processes, and penalties with students and faculty
  • Provide input and make recommendations to Conestoga academic integrity practices

Outreach, Communication & Educational Supports

  • Conduct consultations with students, particularly those who have had incidents of academic misconduct
  • Under the guidance of the Academic Integrity Manager, create and/or coordinate the development of marketing and communications materials, develop templates for informationsharing with the Conestoga community, and update the Academic Integrity website and educational support resources
  • Review Academic Integrity online course modules and provide recommendations and updates

Online Systems, Metrics, Tracking & Reporting

  • Support the Academic Integrity Manager in conducting internal and external research to stay current and inform stakeholders
  • Gather metrics using all available data on incidents and educational supports and develops additional datagathering mechanisms (e.g. surveys or focus groups)
  • Act as a College resource for information, education, support, and training on Turnitin or alternative academic integrityrelated software/tools
  • Run Authorship Investigate Reports for faculty when requested and provide data to the Academic Integrity Manager
  • Conduct Document Takedown Requests from Third Party File-Sharing sites, and other related requests on behalf of faculty

External Liaising & Committee Participation

  • Liaise with other college and university academic integrity staff and external academic integrity groups to build knowledge and share information
  • Maintain membership in the Academic Integrity Council of Ontario (AICO, an affiliate of OCAV) and the International Centre for Academic Integrity (ICAI)

Qualifications:


  • Threeyear Diploma/Degree in Education, Library and Information Sciences, or a related field of study is required
  • Five years of related work experience is required with demonstrated experience in academic integrity
  • Strong knowledge of academic integrity principles
  • Mediation and conflict resolution skills; Demonstrated listening, coaching, and facilitation skills
  • Strong collaborative relationship and teambuilding skills; strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • High degree of initiative; Ability to think analytically to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and changing priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in working with and supporting a diverse student/client population
  • Understanding of rules related to advising privacy and confidentiality
