We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated
Asylum Seekers Assistance Program Manager who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment; to our clients, families, and each other.


Accountable to the Director, the
Asylum Seekers Assistance Program Manager is responsible for delivering the operations for Asylum Seekers/Refugees in Hamilton.

The Manager's role is to work with frontline staff and community partners to support asylum seekers' resettlement and integration.

This position is a
non-unionized, full-time, temporary position. The salary is
$65,500 per year. The contract ends on
May 31, 2025. Hours for this position are 40 per week.

**Key Responsibilities: - Assist clients with Resettlement needs, Navigating the immigration process, accessing the labor market, assisting with the transition to permanent, and connecting to community resources.

  • Provide support and assign work to Front-Line Staff to ensure the effective, efficient operation of the portfolio within the general policies and guidelines of Wesley, contractual obligations of the funder, and best practices for the sector.
  • Work with the Front-Line staff to implement the portfolio's daytoday operational plans, which are aligned with Wesley's vision and strategic plan and clearly outlined in the Operational Manuals for each team.
  • Actively participate in coordination meetings with other partner agencies and in the wider community, lead working groups as needed to develop collaborative models among partners, and develop new partnerships to support a community collaborative approach to assisting the integration of Asylum seekers/refugee claimants.
  • Actively participate in the resolution of all program issues, from daytoday issues to formal disciplinary / dispute resolution processes.
  • Work with the staff to ensure that all relevant legislation, regulations, contractual obligations, and guidelines are met by each program, including maintaining accurate program and service records as per funder and organizational requirements.
  • Liaise with community service providers regarding the needs of the program and education partners on the role and scope of the program's work.
  • Work with Front-Line Staff to execute procedures to manage and mitigate risks to the organization.

What you will bring:


  • Minimum Social Service Worker diploma or equivalent with relevant practical experience working with newcomers.
  • Advanced knowledge of a second language is an asset: Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Dari, Pashto, and Arabic are preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Management with a Refugee/Asylum Seekers role serving a vulnerable population, including trauma victims, is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Immigration Pathway for Refugees and Employment support programs available to support Asylum seekers /Refugees in Canada.
