    Description

    The Product Engineer is responsible for the function of actuator products in vehicle powertrain (propulsions) systems. This includes the following:

  • Determining functional requirements for actuator products in vehicle systems
  • Detailed product design to meet functional and durability requirements with attention to robust high volume manufacturing feasibility, including design for manufacture and achieving target costs
  • Providing the product knowledge for promotion of new business and explaining to internal support groups
  • Guiding and driving prototype builds and testing
  • Providing opportunities to predict product performance and durability using engineering analysis tools
  • Providing product expertise for production line launch
  • Providing technical support to customers during product launch
  • Problem solving for quality issues with products in production
  • Presenting new product concepts to customers
  • Complying with Vitesco Technologies development systems (Product Development Cycle, DFSS, etc), including necessary documentation
  • Implementing practical engineering solutions to solve diverse technical problems
  • Providing technical presentation material as required
  • The candidate will need:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Good communication / inter-personal skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. Fluency in another language is helpful.
  • Must have demonstrated technical presentation skills (Business Language – English).
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience drawing and modeling with CAD software
  • Proven technical leadership skills
  • Background that is beneficial includes:

  • Experience in designing electro-mechanical actuators.
  • Experience or formal training in tribology (wear and friction) to analyze failure modes
  • Experience with launching products while meeting cost, timing and quality objectives.
  • Knowledge of DFSS, FMEAs, DOE, DVP&R, Six Sigma, CAE, Fault Tree Analysis and other engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and Tolerance Chain analysis.
  • Understanding of combustion engines and Electric Vehicle technologies.
  • Proficient in engineering problem solving skills.
