Lactation Consultant (LPN or RN)


Employment type:
Permanent, 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week)


Location:
This position works in the low-risk maternity clinic located at Edmonton West Primary Care Network (Central Office). Suite 124, Meadowlark Health and Shopping Centre, 156 Street & 87 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5R 5W9.

Objective:

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing evidence-based, comprehensive breastfeeding education, counseling, and support services for mothers, babies, and families.


This position is responsible for providing guidance and support to healthcare providers, new parents, and families in the promotion of breastfeeding, as well as the implementation of breastfeeding-friendly practices in a Primary Care setting.

Additionally, this position advocates for breastfeeding women and infants by collaborating with other members of an interdisciplinary team to ensure the promotion and support of breastfeeding within the EWPCN low-risk Maternity Clinic.

Our team of health professionals include Nurses, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Behavioral Health Consultants, Social Workers and Exercise Specialists who collaborate to provide comprehensive primary care services for the community.

Previous Experience:


  • Three years of recent experience working with maternalnewborn population
  • Previous experience as a lactation consultant
  • Experience in a primary care setting or working with family physicians is an asset
  • Previous experience in primary care setting is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated experience using EMR and Netcare

  • Current CLPNA or CRNA Registration and BLS CPR is required
