As the Risk Management Consultant you will direct disability claim litigation activities, attend mediations/pretrials and negotiation settlements for Group Benefits, Individual Insurance.

You will be responsible for conducting vendor audits and implementing new vendor agreements while maintaining quality assurance and fraud detection and prevention programs for disability claims.


How you will create impact:


  • Determining timely, cost effective and results oriented action plans for all claims litigation files.
  • Directing inhouse legal counsel in all litigation management activities in order to prepare case for defense and resolution.
  • Liaising with business partners and stakeholders to facilitate the planning and execution of lawsuits, including calculating, negotiating and settling proposals.
  • Keeping abreast of all industry related court decisions, coordinating communication summaries/interpretations to claims leaders and ensuring our claims procedures are aligned with equitable practices.
  • Working with the broader claims and enterprise fraud teams to develop and maintain effective fraud detection program for disability claims.

To join our team:


  • You have 35 years of disability claims litigation or case management experience.
  • You have a postsecondary diploma in a related field.
  • You have or are working towards the Associate, Life and Health Claims (ALHC) designation, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation or related industry accreditations.
  • You have advanced knowledge of negotiation tactics and disability claims processes/procedures.
  • You have expert level proficiency using MS Office.
