Join the team at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo as a Retail Stock Clerk

The Retail Stock Clerk is responsible for completing daily assigned tasks following proper protocols and processes. Duties include receiving product deliveries, data entry and physical transfer of product to all Retail Venues


Additional responsibilities will include organizing and maintaining the storage areas, assisting on the Retail Shop floor when needed, spot inventory counts, directing retail floor displays and completing other tasks as required.

What you will do:


Deliver Service Excellence by ensuring that each and every one of our guests (internal & external) receives a standard level of service.


  • Receive retail deliveries
  • Execute accurate data entry
  • Manage all as aspect of the retail inventory including:
  • Perform product transfers
  • Perform inventory audits
  • Organize and maintain storage areas
  • Ensure that any Zoo information being provided to customers and staff is timely and accurate.
  • Contribute as an equal member of the Retail Services team when required and strive to enhance the level of service received by our guests.
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Assist with store restocking, merchandising and cleaning as required
  • Complies with the Zoo's health and safety program

What you will bring:


  • Completion of High School Diploma or the equivalent
  • 2 years retail sales with a focus on customer service and soft selling
  • 2 years Inventory control with an emphasis on accurate and consistent data entry
  • Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Office and capable of utilizing a multitude of programs with a high level of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Excellent level of computer skills and accuracy of data entry
  • Demonstrate the excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Class 5 Driver's License is required
  • Able to work independently with in a team environment with mínimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Creative and problemsolving approach

Working Conditions:


  • Working in Gift Shops, warehouse, stockroom and outdoors, including extreme cold and hot conditions
  • Must be able to do heavy living up to 50lbs and climb ladders
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, as required
  • Work outdoors, even in inclement weather
  • Clean drivers abstract must be provided; duties include safely driving vehicle


The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions.

The organization follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is a no smoking environment including vaping.
