  • QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
    Specific Accountabilities
  • The Program Coordinator is accountable to the Program Head(s) within their portfolio. Within the approved policies and procedures of Saskatchewan Polytechnic, the Program Coordinator will support the Program Head in managing and ensuring the delivery of quality education and skills training that will assist students in achieving success.
  • Support the Program Head in the daily operation of program activities relating to student matters and program delivery. This could include but is not limited to the following.
  • Coordinate timetabling
  • Counsel students
  • Complete transfer evaluations for educational institutions and professional organizations.
  • Assist with planning and facilitating orientation week.
  • Plan, communicate, and conduct information sessions and events for students.
  • Be the first point of contact for student concerns.
  • Promote teamwork and good communication among programs, extension services, support staff, and others.
  • Provide instruction to students enrolled in Business programs as required.
  • Design and implement a student-centered classroom using an outcome-based approach.
  • Be flexible and responsive to learner needs through the use of appropriate instructional methodologies.
  • Manage the classroom to ensure an optimum learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect a culturally diverse community's values, beliefs, needs, and contributions.
  • Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment, and feedback to students.
  • Respond to curriculum/course demands and make necessary adjustments according to learner needs, such as adult learning principles.
  • Develop new curriculum as needed.
  • Coordinate with program faculty and the Program Head, for the design, development, and maintenance of program curriculum and program reviews.
  • Be reflective of and responsive to the accommodation of special learning needs, including equity groups and diverse learners.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with an employer and educational requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duties

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

  • 1. A fouryear Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Administration; OR equivalent 4 year Business degree; OR related 4 year degree with major or related experience in specialty area to be taught; OR Business diploma with Education degree with related experience in specialty area to be taught; OR Professional Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA).
  • Recent/relevant work experience (2 years in the last 5) in a business environment.
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral).
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and foster teamwork.
  • Effective instructional ability.
