Sunset Lodge is situated on the beautiful Gorge Waterway. Our park-like grounds and a lovely therapeutic garden with views of the waterway are enjoyed year-round by our residents.

At Sunset Lodge our goal is to provide quality care to a community of residents where individuality, compassion, dignity, and respect are key ingredients to a safe, holistic, home-like care environment for each resident.

The Salvation Army Sunset Lodge -LTC facility is currently seeking a Cook to join the Food Department for our 108-bed complex care facility.

Casual /On-Call permanent positions are currently available.

The Cook prepares and serves nutritious meals as outlined on menus in accordance with applicable food service and safety regulations.

Prepares meals; may prepare for special dietary needs of the residents and cook a variety of meals from scratch using standard recipes and recognized culinary techniques.

Transport and serve meals as required. Keep work stations clean at all times and participate in general cleaning and maintenance of kitchen work areas. Follow guidelines for the safety and security of food and equipment and monitoring practices to ensure adherence.

The successful applicant will hold/have:
WHMIS, Food Safe Level 1. Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, understanding of food safety practices, and experience with culinary terminology and techniques. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to deal with others effectively. Completion of Level 3 Culinary Arts Program or Journeyman/Red Seal Certification

SALARY RANGE:
Per HEU/HEABC Collective Agreement
