Job Description:


Our Training and Compliance Delivery team is looking for a Compliance Analyst to join our team This is an opportunity to work with real time operations system controllers and managers, operations support personnel, Reliability Standard Owners and Requirement Owners.

You will support all aspects of developing and maintaining ongoing compliance to AESO-applicable Alberta Reliability Standards.

You'll be reviewing Alberta and North American Electricity Reliability Coordinator (NERC) reliability standards, and drafting Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets (RSAW) to ensure all aspects of standards implementation.

Event monitoring and root-case analysis, evidence gathering, report preparation, process documentation and providing audit support to contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement are also part of this role.

We support a hybrid work environment, where the team is in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays are flexible for where you work best.


Key accountabilities include:

  • Provide compliance expertise during Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) development and implementation processes
  • Collaborate with Standard Owners and Requirement Owners to draft and maintain Reliability Standard Audit Worksheet narratives with the related evidence
  • Draft Internal Business Practices to demonstrate compliance to Alberta Reliability Standards prior to the standard effective date
  • Determine ongoing evidence required for AESO compliance to each assigned requirement
  • Gather, collect, and analyze relevant data and evidence to demonstrate compliance
  • Gather and review evidence for possible AESO compliance contraventions to ARS
  • Draft internal event analysis reports including rootcause analysis and NERC cause coding
  • Draft selfreport forms, mitigation plans, mitigation plan completion forms
  • Annual selfcertification review of AESO compliance to ARS as per the Annual Implementation Plan
  • Liaise with other departments during internal and external audits
  • Provide business process support including data analysis and preparation of reports, and presentations

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information technology, or a related field
  • Consistent attention to detail and a constructive questioning attitude

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Capable SharePoint and MS Teams user, with experience using other MS Office products
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues throughout an audit cycle
  • Skilled with forming cross-functional teams and guiding diverse participants to complete interdependent tasks and projects

You'll stand out if you have:

  • 3 or more years of experience working on compliance with Alberta Reliability Standards
  • 3 or more years working in Alberta's electricity industry
  • Experience with Tripwire Enterprise
  • Experience with change management including Service Now
