Functional Analyst - Reporting

The Opportunity:

As the Functional Analyst, you will be part of a high performing team working to create value through managing, supporting, delivering and strategically optimizing the following HR systems:

  • Oracle HCM

  • HR Help Desk
  • Payroll
  • Performance
  • Recruiting (Future Project)
  • UKG (formerly Kronos)
  • Time and Attendance
  • Taleo
  • Recruitment and Onboarding
  • HR Reporting and Data Integrations

Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide data as requested by stakeholders in the company
  • Create reporting dashboards to enable endusers to analyze HR data
  • Modify notification templates using BI Publisher
  • Create formatted templates in Word using BI Publisher
  • Bridge the needs of the HR business areas and the systems to improve efficiency within the HR team
  • Proactively provide input to improve the strategy that will ensure effective and efficient use of the modules and tools
  • Configure, test, validate and implement system changes (requirements gathering through to implementation, documentation, end user training and communications)
  • Evaluate releases and new functionality for business fit to improve and optimize current use of the tools
  • Provide technical support for assigned HR systems
  • Seek new ways to improve efficiency through automation and improved use of technology
  • Participate in a variety of projects related to the HR systems and business processes associated to each

Other Details:


  • This is a 6 month temporary position
  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off (Monday to Friday)

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years of combined ERP or HR Systems experience with relevant postsecondary education
  • HR system experience or training preferred
  • The following are a definite asset:


  • Oracle

  • Human Capital Management (HCM) or comparable Human Capital Management system experience
  • Proficiency in SQL Programming Language and SQL Connect


  • JD Edwards

  • Enterprise One experience
  • Knowledge of Macro Functionality in Microsoft Excel
  • HR functional and system experience preferred
  • Report Building, Querying, and Creation of Data Models Experience using SQL
  • Report Building using OTBI and OBIEE an asset
  • Data Loading Experience
  • Understanding of HR operations and experience in employee data management
  • Ability to accurately collect information in order to understand and assess the clients' needs and situation
  • Ability to build, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problemsolving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to interact with HR clients, crossfunctional colleagues and IT
  • Experience in managing internal communication and training plans
