Personal Insurance is looking for an energetic and experienced Product Owner to drive the delivery of business needs for the Personal Insurance Product and Underwriting Pod.

You will work with a variety of stakeholders across Personal Insurance as well as Commercial Insurance, Claims, Finance, Quality Assurance, Release Management, Scrum Masters and Business Owners.

Reporting to the Director, PI Initiatives, you will be responsible for building strong relationships with multiple business and technology teams in order to properly prioritize and manage business backlogs.

You have the knowledge and vision for the final product and the skills required to make decisions which drive that work forward to implementation.


We are looking for a Product Owner with experience in the insurance industry, specifically in Personal Insurance, and who has experience in the Agile methodology.
_ _The Product Owner leads the development effort by driving the vision to an Agile team, outlining and prioritizing work based on business value.


What to expect from the role?

  • Determine product and underwriting priorities for delivery based on collaboration with the PI and CI (IRCA) Product and Underwriting business owners
  • Assist in the development and communication of release roadmap to business leaders and broader stakeholders
  • Be the primary contact for the POD delivery and release teams for information, work prioritization and decision making, ensuring decision making is done in a timely fashion
  • Own, define, prioritize stories and the backlog, establish acceptance criteria, drive prioritization in the backlog, and obtain business validation
  • Remove obstacles and impediments
  • Participate in sprint planning and backlog refinement meetings with Agile teams', while collaborating to actively manage and prioritize the backlog, attend Agile ceremonies as a key stakeholder, and drive the product forward
  • Communicate progress and deadlines to all stakeholder groups
  • Identifies, manages and mitigates risks to delivery and quality and escalates as required
  • Responsible for approving biweekly releases and ensuring a high level of quality is achieved
  • Ensure dependencies are prioritized appropriately across teams and liaise with other Product Owners to understand potential conflicts or dependencies and/or identify synergies
  • Ensure stories are delivered according to business strategies and priorities
  • Support ongoing process improvement activities to bring greater efficiency to delivery processes

What you bring to the role?

  • At least 5 to 8 years of experience in product creation and delivery, team, or project coordination

Deep experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry and its related practices and processes, specifically in Personal Insurance:

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and delivery methods and familiarity with confluence and JIRA
  • CSPO or PSPO certification or working towards, is an asset
  • Bachelor's degree in business, or related field
  • Experience balancing multiple projects and/or priorities in a highly dynamic, rapidly growing and changing environment
  • Experience leading workshops to effectively gather and interpret requirements
  • Able to remain calm, even under pressure, and prioritize efforts and resources across multiple deliverables
  • Strong communication, problemsolving and analytical skills
  • Highly diplomatic and excellent at developing and maintaining relationships
