As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles.


The GO Expansion scope :

new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Objective

Alstom is seeking a Head of Overhead Catenary System Construction. This individual will be accountable in QCD of all Power Supply site works, from preparation until completion and handover.


Responsibilities:


  • Responsible and accountable in QCD of all OCS site works, from preparation until completion and handover,
  • Responsible and accountable in Alstom EHS rules (AZDP) compliance, creating a 0 accident and 0 deviations culture
  • Responsible and accountable in planning setup and on time execution until handover,
  • Method Statements from preparation until validation,
  • Planning progress followup until handover,
  • Site Interface Management with internal and external Stakeholders,
  • Management of suppliers (if applicable) and subcontractors on site,
  • Quality management in coordination with QA/QC team (Audits, modifications, NCR, REX etc),
  • Configuration management until handover to T&C.
  • Construction interfaces with other subsystems (POS team, Trackworks team, signalling team, O&M team, CW team etc)
  • Definition of Installation strategy for the OCS construction activities
  • Lead the Buy/Do decision process for each Site works WP
  • Constructability reviews with OCS teams
  • Methodologies development considering all Safety and operation aspects
  • On Time Delivery (OTD) of all OCS works
  • Preparation of related Gate Reviews,
  • Management of all correspondences (letters, minutes of meetings, submittals ) related to OCS Construction activities,
  • Preparation of OCS works, including all logistics aspects,
  • Collect the REX (Return of Experience) coming from the Regional Centers
Reporting

This position will report to the Head of Electrification.

  • Engineering: Onshore, offshore Engineering team and Transverse Engineering team,
  • Construction : POS and OCS Construction teams,
  • Project: Electrification and System management team,
  • Customer, Consultants, External stakeholders,
  • Civil Works, Track works and O&M partners,
  • Interfacing subsystems (Rolling Stock, Trackworks, Signalling, Civil works),
  • Regional Centers.
Performance Measurements

  • The compliance to EHS targets
  • The quality of the works performed,
  • The following points for the documentation produced by his team:
  • Ontime delivery: 100%,
  • Compliance to Site works
Work Package: 100%,

  • Respect of Design For Quality (DFQ) milestones: 100% Go On Time, in accordance with the standards or rules of his Metier,
  • Respect of performances of the system provided: 100%.
Educational Requirements


Mandatory:

  • Professional Engineer designation as per Canadian regulations

Desirable:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration and/ or
  • Master's Degree in Project Management
Experience

  • Graduate from any Engineering school in mechanical, electrical or civil works systems,
  • Should be Professional Engineer as per Canada regulations,
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the construction oversight and management of major OCS projects (brownfield and greenfield),
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Railway Operations, systems, ET maintenance and construction,
  • Strong knowledge of OCS refurbishment works under engineering hours,
  • Strong knowledge of Canada standards and common practices
  • Fluent in English, second language appreciated
