    Description

    As a member of the Engineering team, the CNC Technician reports to the CNC Team Leader. The CNC technician is responsible for set-up, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and other aspects of CNC machining within the facility. Work must be done in a safe and efficient manner and comply with all Stackpole International's Health & Safety policies, procedures and quality systems. Working knowledge with SPS, 5S and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities are required.     Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Demonstration of 5S, cleanliness and organizational skills in work area, machines, automation and tools.
  • Ability to properly identify setup and scrap parts for measuring and proper disposal.
  • Must be able to read process sheets and understand how they pertain to the part and CMM printout.
  • Show proficient use of all gauging required to assess product quality for firstoff/lastoff, OIS or to make required tool offsets.
  • Understand all safety aspects of machines and automation cells, lockout/tagout and safe cell entry, pinch points, handling of sharp tools and ladder safety.
  • Demonstrate the ability to check levels and fill all machine fluids such as coolant, waylube, hydraulic and spindle oils, lubricate and grease chucks and fixtures etc.
  • Demonstrate safe and accurate loading and unloading of production parts in various machines, chucks and fixtures.
  • Ability to safely power machines down. Power machines up, home confirm program and ready machine for operator to run production.
  • Demonstrate ability to use all machine controls such as, single block, block delete, feed/rpm overrides, cycle start/stop, jog, handle, E stop etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to correctly and safely move X,Y,Z,C,T,A,B,U,V axis etc. in jog, handle or MDI modes.
  • Ability to assess condition of cutting tools and holders and change out spare parts, inserts, drills reamer and holders as necessary.
  • Demonstrate ability to setup and indicate collets, chucks and fixtures, cylinders etc. to repair or complete machine setups.
  • Troubleshoot issues with workholding devices and CNC equipment.
  • Ability to understand and edit CNC programs.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems are met.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Our requirements :

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Computer Numerical Control Machining Program Certificate or equivalent required
  • Must have working knowledge of machining principles and practices
  • Familiar with CNC controls and programming techniques
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, in the automotive industry is an asset
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of conventional machine methods is an asset
  • Good interpersonal skills. Able to work well independently or in a team environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment while maintaining quality
  • Proficient in English (both spoken and written)
  • Work indoors. Environment can be noisy and dealing with different temperatures (i.e extreme heat)
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 30lbs
  • Work shifts may include days, afternoons, nights or continental
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time
  • Able to work overtime when required/requested
