the challenge
The Employment Placement Specialist supports the Ukrainian Evacuees Support Program, which aims to build upon an existing program that has proven to support Ukrainian evacuees in their employment journey by including a language component for Ukrainian evacuees looking to gain employment or better employment opportunities.
This project will focus on supporting Ukrainians with lower levels of English (CLB 3), with the ultimate outcome being that Ukrainian evacuees will have enhanced access to English language learning opportunities to support their integration into the Alberta labour market.
the opportunity
The Employment Placement Specialist facilitates the placement of students into Edmonton's labour market. Over the course of four cohorts, each consisting of 15 students and spanning 13 weeks.
The Employment Placement Specialist will utilize knowledge about the local, regional, and provincial labour market to access hidden job market opportunities and work closely with employers and the English Language Instructor to match students with sustainable jobs within Alberta's labour market.
The project team consists of two members: the Employment Placement Specialist and the English Language Instructor. The latter is responsible for enhancing student language levels to prepare them for job placement. Given the small size of the program team, collaborative work and mutual support are paramount to program success. The Employment Placement Specialist will focus on three pillars of work:

Job readiness coaching:
