Located out of our Sherwood Park office, the individual in this Operations Technician role will report to the Supervisor, Pipeline Field Operations.

The Operations Technician, Pipeline Field Operations, Boreal/Cold Lake/Corridor /Polaris and HPC/ROF Pipelines Edmonton (the "Operator") is a front-line role within Inter Pipeline and is responsible for the day-to-day operations support of pipeline facilities, contractors and assets, to meet the company's strategic plan and supporting initiatives.

More specifically, the Operations Technician is accountable for ensuring the safe, reliable, compliant, cost-effective operation, maintenance, and reliability of the pipeline assets in the Edmonton District of the Boreal/Cold Lake/Corridor/Polaris and HPC/ROF Pipeline Systems.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Grade 12 education is required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license
  • Current H2S Alive, WHMIS and First Aid certifications are an asset

Experience:


  • Minimum of five years of operations and measurement experience related in the oil pipeline industry
  • Postsecondary education or a trade ticket considered definite asset
  • Knowledge of pipeline operations and maintenance procedures, emergency response, and internal business processes related to this role

Skills:


  • Supervise contractors and ensure safe practices and procedures are adhered to
  • Support the company Environment, Health and Safety program

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and measurement equipment, meter proving and third party witnessing, provide accurate and timely documentation of measurement results (internally and externally)
  • Operational responsibilities include quality control comparison testing for BS&W, density and viscosity
  • Routine pigging operations, This would include tracking pig inventory and attaching rebuild reports to pigging PM's
  • Routine inspections of station sites and mainline block valve sites
  • Complete weekly/monthly station checklist PM's and forward to senior/supervisor/ for closure
  • Perform equipment LOTO, drain down, isolations, for maintenance, repair, and project work
  • Maintenance of identified critical spare equipment within inventory
  • Maintain appropriate documents and submit reports as required
  • Develop and update safe work practices, procedures and job task analysis
  • Provide support to engineering for pipeline projects
  • Support 24 hour oncall rotation (sevenday rotation)

Hours:
Full time, Monday to Thursday - 10 hour days
