Position Summary:
EmpowHERto is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Media Relations Volunteer to support our organization's media outreach efforts.
The Media Relations Volunteer will play a vital role in helping us increase our visibility and promote our mission of empowering young women and girls.
This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for media relations and a desire to contribute to a dynamic nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and implementing media relations strategies and campaigns.
Research and identify relevant media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and influencers.
Create media lists and maintain updated media contacts database.
Draft press releases, media advisories, and other media materials.
Support media pitching efforts through personalized outreach to journalists and influencers.
Monitor media coverage and compile media monitoring reports.
Assist with coordinating media interviews and press events.
Support social media promotion of media coverage and organization's initiatives.
Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure consistent messaging across media platforms.
Contribute creative ideas for media outreach and storytelling opportunities.
Stay up-to-date with current media trends, industry best practices, and emerging platforms.
Qualifications:
Passion for empowering young women and girls.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated interest in media relations, journalism, or communications.
Excellent research and organizational abilities.
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with media monitoring tools and platforms (e.g., Cision, Meltwater) is a plus.
Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) is an asset.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Part-time
Part-time hours: 10 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Weekend availability
