What to expect?


Working closely with the Senior Vice President and team members from various offices, you will assist in further developing the public sector transportation planning practice.

The position is responsible for managing a team of professionals providing services for a range of transportation design and construction projects including roads, highways and trails for public sector clients.


This role is best suited for someone who is highly motivated and excels at working in a fast pace, adaptive and innovative environment.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Transportation, this position will be responsible for business development, proposal preparation, project management and delivery of projects to support a team of professionals (engineers, technologists, and technicians) in the following service areas:

  • Road, highway and multi-use trail detail design;
  • Transportation class environmental assessment studies;
  • Project tender preparation and construction administration;
  • Traffic management plans for construction;
  • Project feasibility, utility management and cost estimates;
  • Constructability reviews, and
  • Design standards reviews.
As a senior professional within the organization, you will have responsibilities that include the following:

  • Lead or support project/client managers in establishing appropriate scope, budget and timelines for deliverables; and work with teams, throughout the offices, to implement delivery;
  • Managing a business unit financial performance, including staff utilization, profitability and accounts receivable;
  • Ensure quality and timely delivery of project deliverables to meet the clients' needs;
  • Serve as project manager or senior project manager on strategic projects;
  • Provide mentorship and training to a team of transportation planners, engineers and technical staff and participate actively and formally in their development plans;
  • Participate in the development of the GTA transportation team business plan;
  • Provide technical advice to other service sectors and teams;
  • Assist in client development and prepare proposals; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Professional Knowledge & Qualifications

  • A registered professional engineer in Ontario, or eligible to be licensed in Ontario;
  • Multiple years of experience as a project manager for transportation projects, including class environmental assessment studies, detail designs and contract administration;
  • Experience with client management, securing work, leading professional teams and successfully delivering projects;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal / team player, organizational and analytical skills;
  • Experience leading and mentoring staff teams;
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite of programs;
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects concurrently; and
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and vehicle.

The following experience and skills are considered additional assets:

  • Experience with traffic engineering including traffic safety audits and/or traffic signal design; and
  • Formal project management training, (PMP designation or similar)
