    Position: Director of Tax

    Position Type: Perm

    No. of Positions: 1

    Location: Toronto, on Subway Line (Hybrid Remote)

    Description:

    Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role supervises a team of two in the Tax Department. Our client is one of Toronto's leading wealth management companies, conveniently located on the subway line. The package includes a negotiable salary plus a bonus, comprehensive benefits, RRSP matching, and parking. The role offers flexibility for a hybrid remote work schedule.

    Responsibilities

    • Mentor and supervise staff
    • Implement SOX controls, conduct testing, and write narratives
    • Develop processes for global income tax accounting
    • Collaborate with Big 4 financial statement auditors
    • Coordinate with external service providers for various projects, including:
    • Domestic income tax compliance
    • Sales tax compliance
    • Maintenance of domestic compliance calendar
    • Supervision of domestic tax audits, both direct and indirect taxes
    • M&A and purchase accounting (income and indirect taxes)
    • Tax account reconciliation
    • Intercompany settlements with Finance team members

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (B.S.); Master's Degree in Taxation preferred

    CPA strongly preferred

    Preferably completed In-depth Tax

    Experience in Wealth or similar Industry
