***: Responsible for overseeing employees who perform duties required to service, repair or maintain aircraft and required by Transport Canada.


The Manager's core objective is to (a) develop and execute goals specific for the department including performance driven KPIs, (b) manage the work flow through the Maintenance Shop, and (c) evaluate the results to choose the best solution for the department's overall success.

Your ability to coach, counsel, and assess job results effectively with clear direction through various forms of communication will empower you and your team to meet production schedules and goals.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Monitor any issues to ensure production targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met in order to meet the requirements of the customer.
  • Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate activities of the shop area. Verify all equipment and tools assigned to the shop area are serviceable and in working condition.
  • Attend aircraft debriefings that may occur during or after the work shift; as needed. Communicate and represent the company to vendors, customers, and other functions.
  • Communicate with upstream and downstream customers to assure aircraft schedules are being met.
  • Utilize the methods set forth by the company's Repair Station and Quality Control Manual(s).
  • Hire, develop train and assist subordinate supervisors. Approve personnel actions such as hiring, salary increases, promotions and disciplinary actions.
  • Schedule department workload and ensure timely completion. Set workload priorities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Review and analyze description of work performed to ensure accurate portrayal of time and materials prior to submission to the accounting section.
  • Confer with customers about work order progress.
  • Perform duties required to inspect, service, repair and maintain aircraft and mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and related systems and components to ensure airworthiness.
  • Review work order scope to analyze parts and maintenance required for bids
  • Notify proper authority of any suspected unairworthy conditions found.
  • Lead process analysis (mapping, etc.), measurement (KPIs and Comm. Board), data analysis (Pareto etc.)and problem solving (PDCA, 5-why's, fishbone, etc.). Coach basic CI tools/principles.
  • Work with department lead(s) to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety, reduce cost, cycle time and man-hours and other process improvement techniques.
  • Develop action plans with results-oriented goals for measuring success. Analyze and resolve work center conflicts.
  • Inform management of operational concerns or issues.
  • Foster positive team environment.
  • Demonstrate a continual willingness to learn and serve as team member.
  • Willingness to learn and, if needed, lead other Maintenance functions.

This position operates in compliance with all Administrative, Emergency Response, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance policies, AS9100, and procedures as outlined in Company policy and Repair Station Manual(s).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  • Completed training in a vocation or technical school at a college level or other approved Transport Canada training for aircraft maintenance.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years in a leadership or mentorship role. Expressly displaying ability to successfully lead a team in a production environment.
  • A minimum of 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience within the aerospace/aviation industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of an MRP (Material Resources Planning) system required; Corridor software a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Extensive knowledge in the specialized functions of the job. Ability to solve complex problems ordinarily encountered in the process.
  • Basic math functions with whole numbers, decimals and fractions and the ability to know how and when to use them.
  • Must be available to work off scheduled hours as needed.
  • Key competencies related to working with a diverse group of individuals and departments are desirable.
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.
  • Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
  • Willing to complete on the job training (OJT) in accordance with FCC AMO Manual.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.
