    Job Summary
    This role is a specialized clinical psychology position that will oversee the development and ongoing research and evaluation of the four bed provincial in-patient Eating Disorder Program, located at the Health Sciences Centre. The Psychologist will assist with the overall coordination of Eating Disorder Services along the continuum of care and support and provide leadership to a clinical team, including nursing and allied health staff.

    This position provides psychological services to clients as well as consulting services to professionals outside the program. The Psychologist will design, develop, implement and evaluate group therapy/treatment programs to assess and treat clients with eating disorders in the program, in close consultation with the interdisciplinary team. This position will also function as the team leader for the service, ensuring a high quality inter-professional team approach. The team leader will ensure that the service is positioned along the continuum of care and will be expected to assume a coordinating role with the adolescent medicine team, the HOPE program and acute care to ensure streamlined transition between services. They will also provide ongoing support to clients and their families who are discharged and transitioning to community services.

    This is an advanced professional, administrative, clinical leadership/supervisory psychology role within the Mental Health and Addictions Program. The position provides a clinical advisory role to full working level psychologists as well as applying psychological knowledge and principles in clinical practice. Supervision of provisionally registered doctoral level psychologists, residents, and/or practicum students is expected. Work also involves maintaining professional standards and professional development, acting as a resource for other health care professionals, advising on participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures including risk management, quality improvement and workload issues.

    This position reports to the Program Manager, Health Sciences Psychiatry and maintains accountability to the Psychology Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and practice issues.

    Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
    Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.
    Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.
    A higher-than-normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.

    Job Qualifications
    Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
    Current and continuing registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
    Graduate course work and supervised experience in psychological assessment and therapy with individuals, families, and groups with a specific focus on individuals with eating disorders is required.
    Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
    Exhibited strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.
    Possessed strong leadership and supervisory skills that are focused on engaging others and developing coalitions.
    Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists II's and other supervisees.
    Possessed strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
    Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others.
    Demonstrated ability to conduct research, deliver lectures/clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interprofessional environment.
    Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
    Demonstrated ability and willingness to participle in the clinical training activities of the psychology discipline.
    Demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
    A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
