Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Manager, Supply and Distribution:

  • Ensures that proper inventory control parameters are set up in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) when stock items are added or deleted from inventory.
  • Ensures that proper location control parameters are set up in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) when stock locations are added, modified or deleted from the warehouse setup.
  • Ensures that proper order processing parameters are set up in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to establish efficient putaway and picking routes in the warehouse operation.
  • Coordinates the cycle count process by ensuring that the all stock items are properly set up and regularly updated for the appropriate ABC classifications.
  • Monitors the daily cycle counts and investigate any adjustments that represent possible problems.
  • Reviews item movement reports on a regular basis, recommends location moves or deletions that would enhance the efficiency of the warehouse, traffic, Unit Supply and Mail operations and coordinates the move of items from one location to another.
  • Assists in the training of new staff and the ongoing monitoring for correct processes.
  • Report to Manager training, safety and health concerns or other corrective action required of department staff to ensure health and safety, adherence to policy, practices and effective perform of duties and responsibilities.
  • Assists in ensuring the safety of motorized equipment within the department.
  • Assists in the proper flow and processing for items being returned for credit.
  • Fills orders from requisitions, stocking shelves and replenishing stock in the warehouse as well on the wards.
  • Provides relief for the Workload and Schedule Coordinator during periods of absence.

Experience:


  • Three years previous experience in computerized SAP warehouse systems or 35 years general/private sector warehouse experience in a computerized operation required.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with computer inventory control systems SAP required.
  • Must be familiar with purchasing, receiving, ordering and shipping documents.
  • Knowledge of the HSC complex preferred.
  • Experience in the operation of a High Stacker Forklift Truck and Power Jack required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Complete high school education, Grade 12, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Must complete and maintain Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training.
  • Customer service and coaching courses/seminars preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Must possess a current certificate from the Manitoba Safety Council or equivalent certificate for the Forklift Truck Operator and Low Lift Pallet Mover.
  • Must have a valid and in good standing forklift license.
  • Completion of valid instructor course for Forklift Truck and Low Lift Pallet Mover through Manitoba Safety Council preferred.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skill is essential.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problemsolving skills required as well as the ability to take initiative to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under stressful working conditions, prioritize working responsibilities effectively and manage time efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, coach and lead teams.
  • As a custodian of the Health Sciences Centre's inventory, it is critical that the individual brings with them the quality of honesty and integrity.

Physical Requirements:


  • Position requires considerable standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, stretching, pushing and pulling.
  • Work involves tight deadlines and will require long periods of standing, loading, pushing and pulling cartloads and pallets within the Warehouse, Unit Supply or throughout the facility that may weigh up to 2100 lbs.
  • May be required to work in cramped conditions (or high platforms) unloading supplies from shelves.
  • Exposure to dusty conditions.
