At Merit Kitchens, the Junior Machine Operator will interpret paperwork and use their machine operation background to fabricate wood products through a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) machines.

The Junior Machine Operator will ensure the pieces that have gone through the machine meet the Merit standard.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Evaluate daily work orders to confirm completion.
  • Read paperwork to select jobs and understand the work required to be done on the machine.
  • Set up and operate one or more computerized or manual woodworking machines.
  • Ensure piece count is correct and paperwork is filled in correctly.
  • Operate controls, set offsets, and inspect parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Operate preset special purpose woodworking machines to fabricate wood products.
  • Measure finished products to ensure accuracy to the paperwork attached.
  • Load and remove completed work pieces manually.
  • Transport finished materials and parts to the appropriate subsequent department.
  • Verify all parts and pieces are up to the Merit standard and functionality.
  • Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Contribute and participate in the effective use of the quality control system and provide recommendations to the Lead Hand of the area.
  • Ensure all machines you have operated on are shut down by the end of the production day.
  • Ensure your workstation is clean in between work orders, and at the start and end of the production day.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:


  • 1+ year of CNC machinery operating experience.
  • Experience in cabinetry or manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • Understand the safe operation of machinery.
  • Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Time management, organization, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills.

WAGE EXPECTATION:

$18 to $20 per hour.
