Job Requirements:


The Cook, under the direction of the Food Service Coordinator and supervisors, will prepare, present, store, and dispatch all food products, specifically, but not limited to Dining Room, Bistro (where located), marketing and catering events and resident tray service where required.

This will include various functions to pre-set menu specifications within the given time limitations as previously determined by the Food Service Coordinator and Guest, according to the standards of Symphony Senior Living as determined by the Food Service Coordinator, and in compliance with all health and safety regulations by always ensuring adherence to all sanitary and safe food handling guidelines.


Job Qualifications:


  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Compassion, Common Sense and Empathy required
  • Strong team orientation
  • Demonstrates a positive, flexible work style and approach to the implementation of change
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate in English (written, verbal, reading) to a minimum High School Level. French language skills are an asset.

  • Due to our high level of residents with dementia; your tattoos and piercings must either remained covered by clothing or are discrete. Any other external body decoration, including hair, must not be frightening to a frail senior with dementia.
  • You must be legally allowed to work in Canada
  • You must be in good physical health as this job requires lifting, sitting, standing and walking.
  • Must be available to work every second weekend.
  • Must by COVID vaccinated

Education:


  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:


  • Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Language:


  • English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
