Career, Events & Outreach Coordinator, Office of Student Success:


Required Position:

Full-Time Appointment


Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Manager of Student Success, the Career, Events & Outreach Coordinator will coordinate and contribute to student and community focused initiatives for the Career Hub team, career fairs, networking events, mentorship outreach, and to build experiential learning (EL) and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities and strengthen partnerships with students, faculty, alumni and the community.


  • Coordinate marketing and communications for the Career Hub, including web updates, social media, print and electronic resources to establish a brand identity, and increase visibility and awareness of the breadth of programs and services with both internal and external stakeholders, related to the student journey, including orientation, academic support, peer support, paraacademic support, and career transitions; Coordinate strategic effort for experiential learning (EL) and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) across the institution, in community and industry settings, to create new work and experiential and work integrated learning opportunities for students;
  • Act as project manager for all EL related work on campus and maintain outreach to EL partners, internally and externally;
  • Collaborate on and support all WIL related initiatives and maintain outreach to WIL partners internally and externally;
  • Coordinate the EL Advisory Group, including setting meetings, maintaining relationships with external partners, and creating notes / materials;
  • Coordinate a WIL committee including setting meetings, creating notes and materials. Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Work with IT, faculty members and staff, to facilitate the implementation and monitoring of EL data via an online platform (e.g., the Orbis Outcome Experiential Learning platform and Career Hub) Support and build strong partnerships with employers to address the needs of students;
  • Create invoices, purchase orders, etc;
  • Representative for the Career Hub on the Education Coordinating Team (Workforce Planning Sudbury Manitoulin);
  • Performs other duties directly related to this position as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Fouryear undergraduate degree in a specific field such as communications, marketing, business or administration. A graduate degree is a definite asset;
  • Three to four years' related experience in degree to career transitions, experiential learning, career planning, job market experience, or human resources;
  • Experience in using digital communication tools, social media, and web page updates;
  • Experience in event planning and coordination;
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including experience creating communication pieces and public presentations in English and French;
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to crosscultural communication;
  • An understanding of the tricultural nature of Laurentian University;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in harmony with staff and students, and external partnerships; A comfort in working with data and maintaining confidential electronic databases, with attention to detail (essential);
