About the Role


Reporting to Corporate Investigations, Organized Retail Crime Manager, Alcanna's Loss Prevention Department is seeking to hire a highly organized, dedicated individual to assist store staff manage the growing number of theft incidents store front staff are experiencing.

The applicant should have experience in report writing and, specifically, has experience writing incident reports/witness statements for the Police.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and writing incident reports for both SNDL's internal reporting system and the Edmonton Police Service online reporting.
  • Gather and transcribe accurate, detailed information as they pertain to the incident (ex. Theft or Robbery).
  • Careful organization of evidence including CCTV footage, camera stills, product description/value and eyewitness testimony of store staff.
  • Occasionally, repeat offenders will need to be recognized and tracked as a prolific offender(s). This requires careful attention to detail and organization of previous incidents.
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing systems as required
  • Train users on the operation systems and provide support
  • Running training sessions and workshops on system processes
  • Creating system guidelines and manuals for the organization
  • Risk mitigation planning
  • Regularly examine data reports to locate and resolve mistakes throughout
  • Communicate the results of data analysis in written and verbal form to managers and senior leaders

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Excellent proficiency in English.
  • Previous report writing experience.
  • Competence with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Critical thinking ability
  • Strong problemsolving capacity
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to pass criminal record check
  • Security License is an asset.
Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills. Further, experience in demonstrating high levels of organization and time management will be considered a strong asset.
