    Health & Safety Specialist

    Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Health & Safety Specialist will play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

    This individual will play a key role in promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across the organization.

    Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs by local, provincial and federal regulations as well as industry best practices.

    Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement controls to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents.

    Provide leadership and guidance to employees on health, safety, and environmental matters, including training, coaching, and promoting awareness.
    Manage incident reporting and investigation processes, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
    Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health, safety, and environmental compliance and performance metrics.

    Stay informed about emerging trends, regulations, and technologies in health, safety, and environmental management and proactively recommend improvements and innovations.

    Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting employee engagement, participation, and ownership of health, safety, and environmental initiatives.

    Collaborate with regulatory agencies, industry organizations, and community stakeholders to represent the company's interests and promote responsible business practices.

    Lead emergency response and crisis management efforts to ensure effective coordination and communication in the event of health, safety, or environmental incidents.

    Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; Minimum of 10 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.

    In-depth knowledge of applicable regulations and standards and proven experience in regulatory compliance.
    Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with safety management systems and environmental management software.
