THE OPPORTUNITY

Western Forest Products is hiring for a
Logistics Specialist to join our Supply Control and Logistics team based out of our head office in
Vancouver, BC.**
What You'll Do: With the overarching objective of Defining a Higher Standard, the Logistics Specialist ensures the timely and efficient delivery of products to market, working with the Sawmills and Sales & Marketing Department team.

What We Offer:

Salary range of
$55,000 $66,000 based on skill level, qualifications, and experience

Work Environment:
This role is to be performed in person at our head office in Vancouver, BC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with transportation service providers, across multiple modes, to ensure delivery commitments are met to internal and external customers;
Coordinate transportation activities via truck, rail and export containers, including carrier selection;
Negotiate rates with logistics providers;
Evaluate and make best decisions to meet timelines and realize best transportation rates;
Work with 3rd party reloads to ensure shipments occur in a timely manner;
Troubleshoot and resolve logístical issues, such as delays, damage, and discrepancies;
Implement and enforce logistics policies, procedures and best practices;
Assist with border papers, delivery slips, transfers, receiving paperwork;
Assist with inventory management and control monitoring aged inventory;
Assist with export documentation;
Accounts Payable approval processing;
Perform other duties, projects, and assignments as needed;
Travel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Some postsecondary accreditation preferred;
Post-Secondary degree in Logistics or related field considered an asset.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

Excellent internal and external relationship building skills;
Demonstrated ability to multitask and react to changing conditions;
Ability to work independently as a selfstarter and under supervision;
Ability to communicate effectively and work to timelines;
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented;
High level of integrity and accountability;
Ability to think critically;
Strong Microsoft Office skills;
Transportation/Logistics experience; Truck, Rail and/or Marine;
LumberTrack knowledge is an asset;
Lumber shipping experience is an asset.
