SUMMARY


Shippers/Receivers ship, receive and record the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and stock to and from the Mid-Ontario Business site while working safely and efficiently.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipment
  • Pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping
  • Perform tasks in multitemperature environments
  • Adhere to shipping and receiving policies/procedures, and regulatory compliance procedures
  • Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as require
  • Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials
  • Complete daily shipping and receiving logs
  • May determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
  • Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes
  • May contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications
  • Order and store shipping supplies to maintain stock inventory
  • Maintain shipping and receiving area
  • Deliver or route materials to other departments using material handling devices, may involve traveling to customer sites using company provided vehicles
  • Complete incident reports in relation to health and safety issues or material spills
  • Comply with requirements as outlined in the OHSA, WHMIS company handbook and all other company issued memos and policies including proper use of appropriate PPE. Follow business code of ethics and communicate to team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None for this position.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required to successfully perform the job.


_Education and/or experience_

  • 23 years relevant experience. Truck dealership experience an assed. Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision. Computer experience in Excel, Word and Windows based software.
  • GED or ACE

_Language Skills_

  • High standard of fluency in English for both oral and written correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

_Certificate, Licenses, Registrations_

  • Valid Class G driver's license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to sit, walk, stoop, lift and bend, lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is minor.
