    About the Opportunity

    Position Summary

    The College of Professional Studies (CPS) at Northeastern University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position in Project Management programs. The position is based at our campus in Seattle, WA.

    Project Management programs include the Bachelor of Science in Project Management as well as the Master of Science in Project Management. The Master's program is one of the largest Project Management programs in North America and is a GAC (Global Accreditation Center) accredited by the Project Management Institute, Inc. Classes are offered in an online or hybrid format at the University's Main Campus in Boston and Regional Campuses in Charlotte, NC; Seattle, WA; Silicon Valley, CA; Portland, ME; and Toronto, Ontario.

    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

    This full-time faculty member is expected to bring their intellectual and creative capacity to bear in advancement of the program, seeking to serve students by participating in a range of teaching and non-teaching activities that support the advancement of the program. They will teach courses throughout the year and will work with the program office on administrative issues and programmatic projects.

    Teaching & Curricular Oversight (70% of time)

    • Serve as Principal Instructor for the majority of courses in the Bachelor of Science in Project Management, an undergraduate degree-completion program.
    • In conjunction with the Faculty Lead, develop and implement course learning outcomes, curriculum maps, resource guides, textbooks, syllabi templates, and updated course materials; includes region specific coursework as desired.
    • Oversee the instruction of specific courses within the curriculum. Responsibilities include supporting the Faculty Lead in the selection of part-time instructors, advising on syllabi, and evaluating part-time instructor performance.
    • Identify and provide recommendations to keep curriculum relevant and industry leading.
    • Work with the Faculty Lead to ensure regional programs meet license/accreditation requirements and participate in comprehensive regional evaluations and periodic reviews.
    • In collaboration with the Faculty Lead, create modularity guidelines and recommendations for program content integration across the programs and regional campuses.

    Teaching and actual course load may vary with other responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to:

    Program & Regional Support (20% of time)

    In consultation with the Faculty Lead:

    • Program Representation
      • Leverage professional networks and create local events to increase program, college, & University brand.
      • Create and provide oversight of program/industry advisory boards.
      • Represent the program in regional campus meetings, special events, open houses, and orientations.
      • Represent program in regional accreditation reviews and renewals.
    • Student Support
      • Act as the third line of support for regional student curriculum/faculty escalations (supporting program's Faculty Lead and course Principal Instructor).
      • Serve as faculty sponsor for student-led events and networking opportunities.
    • Faculty Support
      • Recruit and vet qualified candidates for part-time faculty positions, coordinate with Faculty Lead for secondary interviews and to complete the hiring process with HR.
      • Join campus onboarding meetings for new faculty to provide a face for the program.

    Service to the University (10% of time)

    • Participating in program and faculty committee meetings as applicable.
    • Serving on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of the College and wider University.

    Travel

    • In addition to supporting the Seattle, WA, campus, occasional travel may be required to the University's Campuses in Boston, Seattle, Toronto, Portland, ME, Arlington, and/or Charlotte.
      • Examples of required travel include the annual CPS Graduation and Faculty Conference.
    • The potential for transnational work is also possible.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate must demonstrate strong teaching abilities and a dedication to continued improvement as an educator. Experience teaching at the bachelor's and/or master's levels, teaching and developing on ground and online courses, and proven success in working with international students are desired attributes.

    The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and characteristics:

    • A terminal degree from an accredited institution either in project management or a related field by appointment start date.
    • An active Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar credential.
    • 10+ years of professional experience at the project manager level.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the broader project management community and the range of project management maturity levels of organizations.
    • Demonstrate a dedication to continued improvement as an educator and a desire to align with the scholar-practitioner model.
    • It is highly desirable that candidates have a track record of presenting to Project Management Chapters, Interest Groups, and other Industry groups on project management topics.
    • It is also highly desirable for candidates to have experience managing artificial intelligence (AI) and/or information technology (IT) projects using agile ways of working.
    The expected hiring range for this position is USD $71,100 to USD $102,800, based upon the position's scope and responsibilities.
