We are looking for a Plant Operator at our Walker NVIRO Biosolids Facility in Sudbury, ON.


Plant Operator


Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, this position inspects, operates, monitors and completes reports pertaining to processes and equipment for the proper operation of the Biosolids Processing Facility, to deliver high quality N-RichTM.


Responsibilities:


  • Read and interpret meters, gauges, and other sensing devices to monitor plant operation.
  • Operate various hand tools, pumps, and valves.
  • Test and adjust chemical feed rates based on appropriate process calculations.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and interpret results.
  • Maintain legible and detailed records (manual and electronic).
  • Complete required plant preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure equipment, instruments, and supplies are maintained.
  • Assists in preparation of operation and maintenance reports.
  • Monitors and operates Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
  • Ensures correct operation of wastewater treatment processes to meet Bylaw effluent compliance limits.
  • Perform duties associated with confined space entry (i.e. tanks, chambers).
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Participate in oncall shift rotation, as required.
  • Work in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or acceptable combination of education, experience and formal training.
  • Valid Wastewater Certificate.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, in oral and written form.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable with working at elevations up to 32 feet.
