Position Overview
Larga Baffin is seeking motivated individuals for summer employment in all Larga Baffin departments.

Some of the various positions are: Administrative Assistants, Client Care Coordinators, and Building Maintenance Assistants.


Who Can Apply:

Persons of Inuit ancestry will be given preference s CHRA) and
must be between 15 and 30 years of age. Individuals with some experience working in a professional office environment with a strong client service focus are considered an asset.

Must have some knowledge and understanding of Inuit issues; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to interpret material and policies for general and Inuit clients.

English is the working language although the ability to communicate effectively in any Inuktitut language would also be an asset.


Depending on the position, other requirements may include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in any related field;
  • 02 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • High degree of customer service orientation;
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, teamwork, and judgment;
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills;
  • Diplomacy, tact and decision making ability;
  • Maintain uptodate records and status;
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, memos, letters, and forms;
  • Coordinate and prioritize work requests with management;
  • Proven ability to demonstrate professionalism, understanding and patience; and
  • Assist with additional tasks as and when needed or assigned by management.
Knowledge and Skills

  • Cultural sensitivity to Inuit and our clients;
  • Knowledge of the Inuit culture and clients' preferences and show consideration towards their needs;
  • Understanding of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (Inuit Societal values)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and adapt to change; and,
  • Ability to work in an environment that encourages and fosters teamwork, participation, creativity, openness, and mutual respect.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Beneficiary status with the ability to speak Inuktitut.

Salary:
$18 an hour


Duration:
Full-time, summer positions - May 20, 2024 to March 2025


NOTE:

Various summer employment positions are contingent on individuals meeting funding requirements, therefore please self-identify if you are Inuit and if you are a student returning to school in Fall 2024.
