The Opportunity


Partnering with residence managers and Property Accountants, the Accounts Receivable and Billing Specialist is a key role responsible for executing the day-to-day financial activities of the residents for the finance department.

The incumbent will demonstrate keen attention to detail, be a self-motivated, a deadline driven professional, dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service through collaborative relationships.

Resident Handling

  • Partnering with Community Operations Managers and General Managers at the residences:
  • Using Yardi Voyageur and Connect support a group of residences to ensure resident billing for new and existing residents are complete
  • Process and maintain movein and move out details for occupancy analysis and reporting
  • Lead the monthly processing of rent increases
  • Using excel create templates for ancillary revenue capture and timely preparation and posting
  • Ensure timely preparation of move out deposit cheques for residents and maintain the security deposit ledger
  • Provide daily support to the residences regarding resident changes
  • Investigate and resolve community and resident inquiries
  • Support the training and onboarding of new Community Managers and General Managers

Monthly Billing

  • Prepare monthly billing reconciliation and work with Community Managers to ensure accuracy
  • Reconcile accounts receivable aging report to the general ledger and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Prepare monthly revenue reconciliation and variance analysis reports
  • Provide insight on rate and occupancy to the property accounting group for detailed budget to actual analysis
  • Participate in the monthly preP&L meetings to provide detail insights relating to revenue variances and at risk Accounts Receivable prior to publishing

Internal Controls

  • Prepare audit schedules and analyses and provide support for financial audits
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls surrounding revenue and receivables process
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requests with the team

Tax Compliance

  • Filing of provincial sales taxes
  • Prepare annual tax receipts and tax letters for residents

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree with focus on accounting
    or 2+ years related experience
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience using Yardi Voyager
  • Experience in similar industry
  • Proven ability to succeed in a highvolume & fastpaced environment
  • Willing to take on additional projects outside the scope of the role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with and analyze large datasets
  • Experience in driving process improvement
  • Enrolled or pursuing a CPA designation
