Job Posting

  • Reporting to the Supervisor, Building Operations, this position will be responsible for safe and efficient ice making, pool maintenance, building operation services, maintenance of ice surfaces, building maintenance and setting up for special events

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Record any machinery malfunctions, changes in operation conditions, maintenance performed on equipment or machinery in the daily log book.
  • Cleaning of entire arena including washrooms, dressing rooms, dasher boards, etc.
  • Security of equipment in the arena and the building itself.
  • Perform general repairs to complex, arena equipment including goal nets and facility equipment
  • Assists with preparing facility for initial ice making, painting ice, maintaining, shaving and flooding the ice, operating and maintaining the ice resurfacing machine.
  • Perform ice maintenance, resurfacing, operating and maintaining ice resurface
  • Maintain pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters and feeders
  • Sweep, backwash and vacuum pools
  • Security of equipment in the complex.
  • General repairs to complex and facility equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain boards.
  • Maintain dressing rooms and other areas within the arena.
  • Other related assigned duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:


  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' related work experience
  • Must hold a valid Certified Pool / Spa Operators Course (or willingness to obtain in first year)
  • Experience with ice maintenance which includes installation, ice resurfacing, operating, and maintaining an ice resurfacing machine would be a strong asset
  • A valid Nova Scotia Department of Labour 2nd Class Refrigeration License would be an asset
  • Commercial Pool experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in carpentry and general repairs considered an asset

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Staff maintains and adheres to all applicable Government Regulations and Acts relating to the operation of the Sackville Sports Stadium.
  • Valid WHMIS, Emergency First Aid, CPR Accreditation or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of required safety procedures and work practices.
  • Valid NS Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Must have a good attendance and work record.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have availability to handle stressful situations.
  • Must have ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Must have ability to work safely and report any workplace hazards.
  • Must have ability and skills to effectively interact with the general public and internal clients.
  • Must ensure staff are properly trained on the use and safety elements of all equipment/processes.

SALARY: $25.
