    Description

    Support Student Learning as an Educational Assistant

    This role is for an educational assistant who will work with students in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with exceptional needs and be able to provide support in various areas such as academics, behavior management, and daily living skills.

    The successful candidate will have a diploma in Developmental Services Worker or equivalent, and a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience working with school-aged children with special needs. They will also need to possess valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C and have completed training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS).

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Providing academic support to students with learning disabilities
    • Assisting students with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities
    • Participating in pool programs, implementing special programs, and supporting students with deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students

    Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and educational communication software such as Dragon and Kurzweil are assets. The ability to work collaboratively with teaching and other professional staff is essential.

    Requirements:

    • Diploma in Developmental Services Worker or equivalent
    • Minimum 1-2 years of related experience working with school-aged children with special needs
    • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
    • Completed training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS)
