Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience performing a wide range of clerical administrative duties including drafting correspondence (i.e. letters and reports), data entry, maintaining filing systems, reporting, and managing, assessing and responding to inquires
  • Experience in preparing documents, and analyzing reports for management
  • Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience working cooperatively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize individual workloads to adjust to varying demands
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills with experience proofreading, editing and formatting with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and SAP or other equivalent software
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate and provide client service to internal and external stakeholders

Desired:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French
  • Experience working with employee benefits plans and understanding of insurance principles and medical terminology
  • Experience with basic financial processes including cash flows, budgets and accounts payable

Duties:


The Benefits Assistant performs a key role in the review and processing of long term disability claims including the responsibility of data entry, related reports, statistics and claim file management.

The Benefits Assistant provides support to the Disability Specialist in obtaining and documenting required information for the Canada Life Case Manager.

The position also provides overall administration support for the branch including reception, processing mail, filing, timekeeping, and providing back up to the Office Manager.
