Why is this role important?

  • The student assists in the development and adoption of interoperable digital health standards by completing environmental scans, assessments and gap analyses. The student also supports planning, coordination and administration activities for the Data Standards department. The incumbent will work closely with the Data Standards management team to fulfill work packages for the department's multiyear and annual planning activities, report on progress, identify and communicate risks, and draft and disseminate work plans.
  • What you'll do
  • Support the Data Standards management team in delivering on its operational plan, including tracking and reporting on status of projects and initiatives underway
  • Support Data Standards small scale standards initiatives within the branch: responsible for conducting environmental scans related to standards, completing planning activities, developing schedules and communication plans, establishing timelines and milestones and identifying resource requirements and potential risks and monitoring the overall progress. Provides status updates to managers
  • Coordinate operational and logístical aspects related to the projects including scheduling meetings, preparing pertinent documentations, drafting minutes, etc.
  • Attend Infoway working group and community meetings and summarize relevant information for the Data Standards management team
  • Perform additional responsibilities upon request, including but not limited to working closely and collaborating with coworkers on adhoc requests when needed
What you'll bring to the table

  • Experience with data standards, including HL7 standards, SNOMED, ICD, LOINC
  • Familiarity with data standards development/maintenance organizations
  • General understanding of clinical concepts and processes within healthcare systems
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Exceptional computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, and Teams) as well as experience with SharePoint
  • Detail oriented and excellent time management skills
