Position Summary:


Lead and manage Seapeak's international tax function and ensuring tax strategies are aligned with our strategic and business objectives. This includes the management of transaction structuring, global tax filings, transfer pricing methodologies and reporting, indirect taxation, employee tax matters and the mitigation of global tax risks/compliance.**:


Major Responsibilities:

Tender projects:
_**- Responsible for managing the tax risks of tender projects by identifying tax risks and provide practical solutions.

  • Prepare management reports, review legal contracts, and prepare tax projection calculations to ensure tax costs are included in the bid for tenders.
  • Provide support for the determination of the project structure including consideration for cash flow, financing, and other requirements.

Global tax risk management:
_**- Manage internal tax matters including the development and implementation of tax initiatives to optimize tax efficiency.

  • Oversee global tax developments (e.g OECD Pillar II Global Minimum Tax) and ensure compliance with changes in tax legislation.
  • Manage and deliver solutions for tax risks and opportunities in M&A transactions (including the due diligence process), restructuring and other strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into broader company considerations.
  • Assist Human Resources with employee tax related matters and tax planning.

Global tax compliance and Audit defense:_**- Responsible for timely remittance of all global tax filings (Canada, US, Singapore, UK and various EU countries) and review of significant global tax compliance issues.


  • Responsible for maintaining corporate guidelines/policies for transfer pricing and maintenance of documentation/current versions of global transfer pricing reports.
  • Oversee and manage all global tax enquiries, disputes and audits from Tax authorities.
  • Monitor corporate governance requirements for the Group and assist in the preparation of gathering the relevant documents to support the applicable Board agenda items.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of relevant tax function internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and FIN 48/ASC 740 & review our annual SEC 20F.
  • Manage and liaise with external auditors on quarterly and annual consolidated and standalone audits for the group and its subsidiaries.
  • Monitor sensitive tax positions such as EU ETS, Passive Foreign Investment Company, shipping/tonnage tax regime status, freight taxes and various treaty/tax residency positions.

  • Lead, mentor and develop the inhouse tax team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Set clear objectives, measure performance, and ensure the team is updated on latest tax knowledge.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):


  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent and completion of In-Depth Income Tax course level 3 or Master degree in Tax.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive tax experience in managing the tax function of large multinational companies combined with Big 4 public accounting experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, presentation), with the ability to effectively communicate with business leaders by distilling complex tax issues with clarity and simplicity.
  • Strong knowledge of global tax issues pertaining to large multinational companies and solid understanding of IFRS, US GAAP and SEC reporting.
  • Experience with tax planning and M&A transactions including due diligence and integration.
  • Experience with managing tax audit challenges and correspondence with local authorities.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex financial accounting and taxation issues thoroughly and accurately.
  • Proficiency with computer software including spreadsheet modelling, presentation and Word processing packages.
  • Excellent organization, time management skills, and attention to detail.
