Position Overview


Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety & Wellness, the Psychological Safety Consultant is a member of the Health, Safety & Wellness Team and supports the development, delivery and monitoring of employee safety and prevention programs related to psychological health and safety.

This position will work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team employing the principles and best practice standards for psychological health and safety in the workplace to ensure effective and early mental health and wellness intervention for employees.

The focus of this position is to support organizational compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, guidelines and standards as well as provide expert consulting and behavioural supports for frontline staff and leaders.


This is what you'll be doing:

  • Lead the Psychological Health and

Safety Program:
conducting and interpreting results of risk assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement/make recommendations, support stakeholders to implement actions.

  • Lead and assist in facilitating our CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training program
  • Lead critical incident stress management debriefs, as requested
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of corporate Health, Safety and Wellness programs related to psychological health and safety.
  • Develop and implement injury prevention strategies and safety awareness initiatives related to workplace violence and psychological safety.
  • Coordinate completion of annual and postevent Workplace Violence Risk Assessments in consultation with department leaders.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct accident investigations for all reportable incidents related to workplace violence
  • Develop and facilitate psychological safety training programs and resources for frontline staff and leaders.
  • Act as a resource for the receipt and resolution of Psychological Safety inquiries received from all departments.
  • Collaborate with Health, Safety & Wellness team members to conduct investigations and manage claims and return to work planning where psychological harm has been reported.
  • Liaise with supervisors, managers and other departments to support debriefing processes provided either internally or by external provider to ensure issues are addressed.
  • Monitor safety and wellness data for leading and lagging key performance indicators
  • Conduct research on emerging health, safety and wellness topics.

  • Bachelor's Degree in social sciences or related field required
  • Critical Incident Stress Management Certification
  • MHCC Mental Health First Aid Certification
  • Psychological Health & Safety Advisor Certification is an asset
  • Compassion Fatigue Training is an asset
  • Experience with adult education and/or group facilitation an asset.
  • Certified CPI instructor an asset
  • Minimum two years of recent experience in Occupational Health or Mental Health or related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of, compliance with, and practice in accordance with relevant legislation, code of ethics, practice standards, workplace policies and procedures, human rights legislation, and other municipal, provincial and federal legislation applicable to the workplace
  • Experience using Parklane software is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, team building and presentation skills.
  • An understanding of workflow process analysis, incident investigation and risk management principles required.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with an ability to handle multiple competing projects with tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting considered an asset.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record
