We are currently seeking to hire a talented and experienced Production Manager to lead our dynamic production function at our state-of-the-art processing facility located at 90 Glover RD in Hamilton.

About Us:

Sierra Supply Chain Services is a leading provider of protein (poultry, beef, pork) solutions to the food processing and distribution sector.

With our three locations in Brampton, Hamilton, and Mississauga, we simplify supply chain services and add value to the protein sector.

Exciting news We are expanding our operations with a brand-new 25,000 square foot processing facility in Hamilton.

This facility is equipped to handle 200,000 kg of weekly multi-protein grinding and offers daily custom boxing and blast freezing capabilities.

About the Role:

As the Production Manager, you will play a critical role in leading our manufacturing processes, maximizing production line capacity, and ensuring on-time fulfillment of customer orders.

Collaborating closely with the Production Planner, you will work towards achieving key productivity KPIs (kg/l-hr, throughput) while maintaining the highest level of quality.

Additionally, you will contribute to Lean Manufacturing projects aimed at continuous improvement and meeting targets.

Responsibilities and Key Activities:

Operations Management: Process Effectiveness
Direct production personnel to execute the production plan
Prioritize and assign execution on production lines and shifts
Review workload to ensure a balanced and supportive work environment
Oversee operations to ensure product specifications are met and provide feedback to the quality and sales teams
Minimize meat waste and losses on the production floor
Continuously monitor production processes, identify areas for improvement, and drive development initiatives
Productivity Maximization & Yield Management
Review KPI variances against standards/targets
Implement strategies to improve food mate yield
Contribute to operational improvements to enhance KPI targets
Analyze overtime reports to identify areas for improvement and approve supervisors' overtime requests
Drive efficiency improvements to reduce overtime
Review and control production expenses and monthly expense reports
Collaborate with the GM and Finances to set job labor rates
Production Planning & Line Throughput Utilization
Regularly monitor and review the production planning schedule
Support production planning areas to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
Optimize labor resources utilization on production lines, minimizing external resource dependency and overtime
Food Safety Compliance & Quality Assurance
Enforce strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, Sanitation, and Safety Standards
Implement and follow all company guidelines regarding GMPs and food safety policies
Ensure compliance with hazard control measures and GMP practices
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to maintain systems
Accountable for compliance with food safety and quality programs (e.g., FSEP, HACCP, BRC)
Production Team Performance
Provide leadership, mentoring, oversight, and support to the production team
Conduct performance reviews for team members and ensure the team meets daytoday requirements
Hold the production team accountable for achieving company KPIs
Coach the supervisor team to reach KPI targets, execute Lean Manufacturing Projects, and assign personnel to production lines
