Job Description Senior System Administrator

Job Description Senior System Administrator Reports To CEO Summary Working from home the Senior System Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and proper operation of instream's IT Systems & Network.

This includes the creation of all plans for ensuring data consistency, definitions, security, and usability.

The Senior System Administrator also installs, configures, and supports the software and hardware components of internal/external networks, as well as deploys and maintains all systems, applications and related computer equipment.

Prepare implementation plansConfigure and optimize technical installationsMonitor systems and applications, troubleshoot, and responds to issues identified and recommendimprovements to enhance performance and reduce issuesRecommend optimized configurations, design features and policies for technology/solutions deploymentDevelop solution technical documentation and build guidesProvide support to all business teams and external stakeholders in the management of deployed solutions Requirements2 years experience administering environments hosted in a datacenter colocation2 years experience administering environments hosted in Amazon Web Services2 years experience providing system recommendations as related to network, hardware, operating systems, cloud, middlewareExperience developing deployment plans and system documentation2 years experience in administering and maintaining network and firewall systems (prefeably Fortigate)2 years experience in administering and maintaining SAN systems5 years experience in troubleshooting systems, middleware, databases2 years experience in handling on-callsEffective communication skills both written and verbalAbility to travel within the Ottawa and Toronto regionAt least 5 years experience in maintaining server systems including but not limited to:Virtualization:Preferred: Hyper-V 2012 to 2019OS:Preferred: Windows OS 2012 to 2019 include AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, PKI,WSUS, SMTP,powershellPreferred: Windows 7 to Windows 11,Preferred: Linux Ubuntu 16 to 18, Centos 6 to 7Databases:Preferred: SQL Server, MySQL, AuroraMiddleware:Preferred: Ansible, Centreon/Nagios, RabbitMQ, OpenVAS, Wazuh/Ossec,HAProxy, SFTPPreferred: IIS, WordpressBackup solutions:Preferred: VeeamAWS networking experience a plus.

Ability to pass criminal & background checkAble to legally work in Canada DutiesThe following applies to both an environment in a data center colocation as well as an environment hosted in Amazon Web ServicesUpdating the environment with patches/firmware manually and via ansible automation o Updating production environment during off hours maintenance windowsTroubleshooting and resolving environment issuesTroubleshooting networking infrastructure issues (Data center, routers, firewalls, switches)Responding to emergency on call issuesEnsuring backups are being completed and are testedEnsuring security solutions are online and monitoring scanning resultsTroubleshooting and resolving employee issuesPassword resetVPN authenticationJenkins tests failingUnable to authenticate on applicationsSOC ActivitiesPen testingUser access rights auditingKeeping up to date on current security risks and technologiesSafe password lengthZero trust architecturesLatest vulnerabilitiesPlanning for the futureFinancial planning (cloud vs own, backup solution, ...)Capacity planningIssuing request for quotes/proposalsPlanning upgrades Working ConditionsAbility to attend and conduct presentations.
