About us:The mobile crisis team operate the bilingual crisis phone line and chat 24/7 for children and youth up to the age of 18 experiencing a mental health crisis and their families/ caregivers.

Crisis workers assess level of risk, intervene with the caller through supportive listening and immediate crisis counselling, develop intervention strategies and safety plans, and implement follow up supports as required.

Crisis workers are also well connected to other services available in the Eastern region and can provide information about available resources in their community.

The mobile crisis team also offer in-home crisis services for clients who require additional supports and would benefit from a face-to-face intervention with their current situation by a team of crisis workers.

For youth who are at risk but not currently involved with services, the mobile crisis workers may provide follow-up services as well as complete a risk assessment, make a safety plan and implement crisis interventions.


Reporting to the Assistant Director, Operations, the Coordinator is responsible for the overall functioning and operation of the Crisis Line and Chat and the Mobile Crisis Team in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Youth Services Bureau.


What you will do:


Staff & Program Related

  • Support the effective recruitment, orientation, supervision, evaluation & training of crisis team personnel and student placement as assigned by Assistant Director/Director
  • Complete annual employee performance review and work plan for assigned staff
  • Provide individual and group supervision on a monthly, biweekly and/or weekly basis as required
  • Oversee and ensure the smooth day to day operations of the crisis team including the delegation of and coordination of essential daily activities
  • Facilitate crisis team meetings to assess program and client needs/outcomes
  • Ensure timely preparation of staff schedules and fulfill scheduling needs
  • Coordinate all assigned project activities
  • Participate in and or deliver public education on program services & issues related to youth mental health
  • Liaise and participate with other services within YSB and within the community and participate in meetings as required
  • Contribute to program evaluation & service development including the identification of trends with program area
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance activities and reports and participate in research activities as required.
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed as established by YSB and the Program
  • Ensure compliance with Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Policies, Collective Agreement and relevant legislation
  • Participate in regularly scheduled on call services
  • Coordinate distribution of marketing materials to clients, partner agencies and community

Clinical /Client

  • Oversee and monitor staff's implementation of crisis counselling, risk assessment and suicide screening, safety planning, crisis interventions and short term follow up services as well as proper documentation
  • Provide clinical consultation to crisis team and monitor client files
  • Support programs as required including emergency crisis call/ chat coverage for unplanned staffing shortages
  • Ensure proper completion of serious occurrences, CAS reports, Incident report
  • Ensure follow up on client complaints
  • Oversee Imminent Risk Assessments and ensure proper safety plans and follow up plans are in place

Central Services/Administration

  • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed on time and in accordance with program & YSB policies, including preparation of schedules, shift summaries, submission of payroll and approvals of time off requests and data entry
  • Prepare reports & statistical report documentation or other reports as required by director or program funders
  • Ensure electronic files are maintained and current within established guidelines
  • Participate in the selection of staff with Human Resources
  • Support the administration of budget & be accountable for spending
  • Prepare for accreditation as required
  • Maintain petty cash and bus ticket supply for program/client needs
  • Maintain inventory supplies
  • Maintain physical plant and equipment
