BGC Weston Mount Dennis & Lawrence Heights Club serves children and youth in the Weston Mount Dennis/ Lawrence Heights and surrounding communities providing social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs.

We are looking for motivated people to facilitate our afterschool children's' program for the school year for children ranging in age from years old.

This position is a
_Relief, On-Call position._

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of the After-School Program for children and youth meeting Ontario's After School Program Guidelines 2023/202
  • Promote the core values of BGC Canada and achieve its operating standards
  • Implement and facilitate effective physical education, recreational and nutrition activities that engage learners and reflect the various learning styles of Club members
  • Provide participants with instruction on a variety of motor skills and physical activities designed to enhance development of every participant
  • Identify and connect with local stakeholders and partners to enhance program delivery
  • Supervise participants in the program, and promote safety, respect, conflict resolution, leadership and life skills
  • Participate mandatory meetings and be readily available to provide support on a daily basis
  • Maintain appropriate records and statistics, and complete program reports including surveys and interviews, as per organization guidelines
  • Identify and secure program materials, equipment and resources, including art supplies and snacks
  • Ensure the safety and security of the participants in the program
  • Maintain health and safety standards of food, and areas of food storage and preparation
  • Liaise with parents/guardians on issues of concern or relevance to their children
  • Maintain a professional relationship with peers, members, volunteers, parents and members of the public
  • Enforce policies and procedures and initiate discipline process when required
  • Ensure weekly member attendance is monitored and coordinate with administrative staff to maintain accurate documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Educational background applicable to the position.
  • Experience working with children 6 to 12 years old.
  • Strong skills in one or more of the following areas: sports, arts, recreation, education, health and nutrition.
  • Ability to work as team members in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Strong supervision and program planning skills
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification. (mandatory)
  • Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring)

  • Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset)
  • Must be available to work Monday
  • Friday between 2:45PM 5:30PM (hours may vary depending on program location)
