The Opportunity:


The primary purpose of the Health & Wellness Coordinator is to support students to function effectively as learners and as individuals by assisting them to understand, prevent, or overcome personal and social challenges that may hinder learning or their ability to cope with everyday living.


The Health and Wellness Coordinator will support the vision, mission, and values of triOS College while contributing to a positive, supportive, and student-focused team environment of respect, integrity, dedication, and readiness, embracing diversity, and fostering inclusion.


What you'll be doing:


  • Provide nonviolent crisis intervention and safety planning that supports individuals in achieving positive mental wellbeing and provides referrals and consultations to College employees, faculty, and students.
  • Develop, facilitate, and organize workshops on key student issues such as anxiety, time management, stress management, grieving, healthy relationships, sexual harassment prevention, and dealing with domestic abuse.
  • Work with campus teams on promoting information sessions and encouraging student participation and engagement.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver ongoing student information sessions and seminars on health and wellness topics, as well as guest speakers.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver ongoing employee professional development sessions on health and wellness topics.
  • Assist College employees and faculty by identifying students' needs and suggesting supporting activities.
  • Assist Campus Directors, Program Coordinators, faculty, and employees to create a positive learning environment that promotes and supports students' success.
  • Provide orientation to wellness program opportunities and collaborates with participants to identify interests.
  • Maintain current and accurate electronic file management records in accordance with triOS College policy.
  • Promote participant involvement in activities and provides skill development and mentoring to address social isolation.
  • Collaborate with participants to support their goals, skills, and participation in wellness activities. The duties and responsibilities listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. What you bring to the position:

  • Degree or diploma in Health Promotion or related field. Preference will be given to those who successfully completed a degree in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to, education, counselling, social work, or psychology.
  • Certificates in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid are assets.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing individual and group assessment and counselling.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in wellness program development.
  • Experience in Social Work or Community Services is preferred.
  • Experience consulting with, and providing referrals to, community support services.
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills to assist students with personal or academic issues.
  • Understanding of PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act) and AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, primarily focused on Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Teams, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of health and wellness work.
